Gen. Lather, COS SHAPE handing over the NPC-flag to Lieutenant Gen. Wolf, Director NCSA.
GLONS (Belgium), 28 November – Today at the Kazerne Ambiorix in Tongeren, Belgium, the NATO Programming Centre (NPC) Glons conducted a ceremony marking the transfer of tasking authority from Allied Command Operations (ACO) to the NATO Communication and Information Systems Services Agency (NCSA).

As a symbol of the responsibility, the NPC-flag was handed over from General Karl-Heinz Lather, Chief of Staff ACO to the Director NCSA, General Ulrich Wolf.

“Transferring NPC to NCSA is a further step in the evolution of support arrangements encompassing command and control systems used in land, maritime and air operations,” said General Lather in his address.  “This will provide the platform for further excellence in undertaking the management of the Air Command and Control System operational software and systems based support.”

The handover was followed by a Change of Command ceremony as Colonel Horst Stüttgen replaced Colonel Walter Eisenreich, both German Air Force, after three years in command. Underlining the very close and harmonious relationship with the neighboring cities and towns, the event was attended by various civilian dignitaries of the region.

The NATO Programming Centre is currently charged with maintaining NATO’s Air Command and Control systems and, in the near future, will be re-roled as the System Support Centre for the NATO Air Command & Control System.
