This Networking Infrastructure Grant, which is part of the educational layer that is being integrated into the Virtual Silk Highway network, establishes a networking academy in Yerevan. It creates a distance-learning programme for training instructors in computer networking skills.

The establishment of the Cisco Networking Academy, which is one of the most successful ICT training programmes, is hoped to increase job opportunities for Armenian professionals by providing them with high-quality training in different ICT areas. The academy is the educational structure of Cisco Systems Company, the world leader in the production of network equipment. It has created a worldwide hierarchical network of training centres, comprising Regional Networking Academies and their constituent Local Networking Academies, where professionals are trained via e-learning programmes.

This NIG is part of a more global effort of NATO to increase the emphasis on concrete projects addressing Key Priorities in the Partner and Mediterranean Dialogue countries, fostering cooperation between the expert communities of these countries and the NATO countries and by this means contributing to the well being of all societies.
