Master Level Distant Teaching in ICT in Turkmenistan Networking Infrastructure Grant - NIG 982548
This NIG builds an educational layer onto the Virtual Silk Highway by adding an e-learning platform, in Russian, to the Turkmen SILK network. The existing network, as developed by previous NIGs, has already provided computer networking in Turkmenistan with a quantum leap, by connecting its major scientific and educational institutions to the Virtual Silk Highway . This infrastructure, however, does not exploit its full potential due to the lack of staff in the scientific and educational institutions with the necessary ICT scientific background. The aim of this project is to create an elite group of specialists in information and communication technology, who would be able to fill this shortage. Thus, a full-time course consisting of three one-year modules has been developed. Upon completion of the three modules, Turkmen students achieve an advanced level in ICT, which is equivalent to the postgraduate European standard. The training is delivered via distance learning, with occasional face-to-face teaching periods by European teachers in Turkmenistan. In addition, training periods of 3 to 6 months are planned in European universities, in order to provide the Turkmen students with experience in European research environments. Module Contents:
