This two weeks’ course brings together specialists from SILK countries, Afghanistan , Moldova , Croatia and Belarus , who deal with trauma due to terror or disaster, together with NATO countries specialists. The ASI is taking place in the framework of the NIG ‘Share CSPC knowledge with SILK countries’ and addresses the latest findings and the CSPC (Community Stress Prevention Centre) methods and practice.
The objectives of the ASI are:
- Share the CSPC knowledge, methods and practice with the SILK countries psychologists in order to give them the optimal tools for first response to trauma as a result of terrorism or disaster. In a later stage, the knowledge is to be shared with the Local Trauma Prevention Centres (LTPCs) in each of the 11 countries.
- Conduct a high-level teaching activity, where the subject above-mentioned as well as related subjects, which haven’t been taught anywhere yet, are treated in depth by lecturers of international level/standard.
- Conduct high-level teaching for CSPC knowledge transfer as well as other related subjects. New thinking in all areas will be explored and delivered by lecturers of international standard.
The skills and knowledge that will be acquired by the end of the ASI include:
- Professional state-of-the-art response to the psychological impact of terror, trauma and disaster.
- The capacity to assist the local population in coping with the psycho-social impact of terror, trauma and disaster with the help of the LTPCs.
- The ability to train LTPC experts to be Mental First Aiders according to the CSPC methods and practice.
