Pilot Study: Sustainable Building for Military Infrastructure

The objectives and general contents of the seminar were to be a continuation of the “ongoing forum” where the latest knowledge and experience in the field of sustainable building is exchanged.

Forty participants from nine NATO countries ( Canada , Germany , Latvia , the Netherlands , Norway , Poland , Slovenia , Turkey and the United Kingdom ) and seven Partner countries ( Austria , Finland , Georgia , the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia * , Switzerland , Tajikistan and Ukraine ) were represented at the seminar which was held in Oslo , September 21-23. The seminar was also attended by an infrastructure representative of NATO International Staff.

The three-day seminar consisted of two auditorium days with 27 presentations from six different countries. The presentations focused on design choices and technical solutions on ventilation, demolition and recycling of building materials, methods and tools for sustainable design, exemplary building projects and techniques and examples of adaptive re-use of cultural heritage in several countries.
