Objective

The pilot study is supported by the Belgian Office for Scientific, Technical and Cultural Affairs (DWTC) in collaboration with the Office of the Scientific Attaché of the Italian Embassy in Brussels and was launched by NATO/CCMS in November 2002.
The main objective of the pilot study is exchanging and combining expertise in water system research, considering different dimensions of water management and their intra and inter relations.

The third workshop of the CCMS pilot study on Integrated Water Management was held in Värska, Estonia from 12 to15 June 2004.

Second Workshop - Genoa, Italy - 28-31 January 2004

The second workshop of the CCMS pilot study on Integrated Water Management was held in Italy, Genoa from 28 to 31 January 2004.

First Workshop - Antwerp, Belgium - 21-24 May 2003

The first workshop was aiming to compile an overview of the policy concerning Integrated Water Management in the different countries, regions and relevant international legislation or agreements. Based upon this overview issues were to be formulated and ‘pilot' basins were to be chosen, with the intention to derive issues related to an approach based upon water system functioning concepts as well as organizational - related problems, complicating the implementation of IWM.
