Cooperative Assembly
This exercise included search and rescue, close air support,
medical evacuation and air drop procedures as well as
infantry peace support operations skills. The training
involved was to help refine and validate the procedures
and requirements necessary for military forces from NATO
and Partner nations to operate effectively together. |

Strong Resolve

Co-operative Safeguard
This exercise took place in Keflavik (Iceland)
in July 1997. It was vastly different from past exercises
of its kind. Previous NATO/PFP exercises had often dealt
with military troops practising peacekeeping operations
similar to those currently taking place in Bosnia. In
contrast, Co-operative Safeguard was designed to provide
participating nations the opportunity to hone their disaster
relief skills, focusing on search and rescue operations,
vehicle rescue, emergency medical care and triage procedures.
