13 August 2008 - Departure of the Hungarian Battalion of Guard and Security
Wednesday 16th of July the general de Marnhac went to camp Làzlo to assist at a ceremony greeting the departure of the Hungarian battalion of Guard and Security from Pristina. It put an end to nine years of the battalion presence in Kosovo, witch was also charged of the security of the KFOR headquarter.

13 August 2008 - COMKFOR visits the municipality of Decane
The city of Decane, destroyed by 85% during the conflict in 1999, is today a flourishing city that regroups 33 villages and 40 000 inhabitants. COMKFOR met Decane’s mayor, Mr Berisha, and principal local political representatives in order to remind the essential conditions for economic development: “security and respect of laws, main conditions to attract investors”. He visits then the Lokaj Plast factory, specialized in the manufacture of plastic materials. This company, created thanks to a partnership with a German firm, exports today its products in Switzerland and in Albania. The enterprise constitutes today a local model of development.

13 August 2008 - Rebuilding of Mitrovica footbridge The footbridge that joins north and south parts of the city was set up during the construction of Main Bridge. First conceived like a temporary passage, it met a straightforward success by the population that borrowed him regularly. Its first framework, in wood, deteriorated quickly. That’s why the legionnaires of the 2nd Foreign Regiment of Engineers started a work to rebuild a metallic footbridge.
This project permit to stimulate the local economy and the new footbridge, inaugurated the 23rd of July, is a place of exchange between the different communities of the town.

10 July 2008 - Children, Kosovo's future
During his entire mandate, COMKFOR has often met the youth of Kosovo. Many of them have grown up during the war, their vision of life might be different than other children in the world. For KFOR, they symbolize hope and peace and they will build Kosovo's future.

The NATO military committee visited the Kosovo Force. The Military Committee (MC) is the senior military authority in NATO, providing NATO's civilian decision-making bodies with advice on military matters. During the day, they have been briefed on all KFOR organizations. Before leaving Kosovo, the committee had observed a riot control demonstration in Task Force Center.
