German/Austrian Operational Reserve Force (ORF) Battalion to deploy in Kosovo

A German/Austrian Battalion assigned to NATO will deploy to Kosovo next week to take part in a routinely scheduled operational rehearsal to ensure NATO troops are well trained and familiar with the Kosovo environment.

This rehearsal is not in response to, or in preparation for, any current situation either on-going or expected within Kosovo. It will enable NATO forces to maintain a high state of readiness and be able to deploy rapidly in response to any scenario.

Like those previously conducted over the past several years, this rehearsal sends the clear message that NATO remains committed to peace and stability in the Balkan region. The temporary deployment of the ORF (Operational Reserve Force) demonstrates NATO’s capability to respond in a quick and flexible manner to any situation in KFOR’s current area of operations.
