Military Music in Pristina

PRISTINA, Film City. On 28 August 2008, Lieutenant General de MARNHAC (COMKFOR) will offer to the people of Pristina a concert of Military Music on Mother Teresa Street at 17:00.

The concert will take place in presence of COMKFOR on Mother Teresa Street, in front of the National Theatre.

Directed by the Band master principal Jean-François DURAND, assisted by the Band master principal Jean-Claude LEBERRUYER and of the Drum major Jean-Pierre LEMOINE, the formation, composed of 55 musicians, is placed under the authority of the General commanding the Army’s North-western Area where LTG de MARNHAC was posted before coming to Kosovo.

Established in Rennes (Brittany), the Music of the Army North-western Area, is identified by the use of a specific and representative instrument of Brittany: the bagpipe. Only band of the French Army to use this instrument with a harmonic orchestra, this band is matching its repertory to the local folk music, thus contributing to its influence.
