Austrian KFOR soldiers celebrate their National Day
The Austrian soldiers of the Multinational Task Force South (MNTFS) celebrated their Austrian National Day in Suva Reka / Suhareke on the 26th of October. Numerous guests from politics and economy witnessed the ceremony. Among other things in his speech the commander MNTFS, General Robert Prader read out the address written by the Federal President of the Republic of Austria on the occasion of the National Day. He himself was pleased to spend this important day together with his fellow Austrian soldiers in the area of operations.

Lieutenant Colonel Jocelino do Nascimento Bragança Rodrigues replaced Lieutenant Colonel Paulo José de Sousa Teles Serra Pedro in the position of the KTM commander.

“Road Block” exercises in the camp of Serment de Koufra
Saturday, 06 September, the security situation in Mitrovica suddenly deteriorates, while escorting a convoy, the Armoured Reconnaissance Platoon of the 1st Moroccan company is facing hostile rioters. When the leading elements try to clear the way, rioters block the road and attack using Molotov cocktails. To control the situation, the Soldiers from the BAFF (Barrage d’arrêt fixe fermé) are dedicated to stop the advance of the rioters and to push them away. Supported by a group of the 2nd REG (Regiment of engineers of the French Foreign Legion) tasked with the clearance of the axis. The bulldozer removes the obstacles and the convoy sets off again. 600 meters farther, the rioters attack again.

On the morning of 13 September 2008 Camp Bondsteel played host to an intercontingental soccer tournament, organized by the 38th Irish Infantry Group. 29 Aug. - The commander of the Multinational Task Force South, General Robert Prader, awarded the NATO Non-Article 5 medal on 27 August to soldiers of the headquarters of Camp Prizren. In a solemn ceremony from 1700 to 1800, 167 Austrian, German, Swiss and Turkish soldiers received their NATO Non-Article 5 medal.

Derailed train recovered by MNTF South
Ten wagons of a cargo train derailed on 08 Aug 19:40 hrs near Mrasor. Six of the wagons tipped over. 150 m of rails were also damaged in the accident. The train was on its way from Klina/Kline to Zrze, carrying various sorts of grain from Hungary.

04 Jun. - On May 29, Austrian Brigadier General Robert Prader assumed command of Multinational Task Force South (MNTF S) in Prizren, Kosovo. It’s the first time a General from a non-NATO member country has commanded one of the brigade-sized task forces in KFOR. Prader, who commands 4000 soldiers from five different nations, replaced Brigadier General Tarcin Ugor.

"This fellow soldier is back home in his native France this evening," says the pilot knowingly. 1508 hours: An SAR helicopter lands on the helipad, and a German soldier is carefully disembarked on a stretcher.
