Transfer of Authority in Multinational Task Force WEST

On November 6th 2008, the Transfer of Authority ceremony took place in the MNTF West Headquarters, the camp “Villaggio Italia”, Belo Polje.

Brigadier General Giovanni Armentani, who is in Italy the Commander of Mechanized Brigade “Granatieri di Sardegna”, took over the command of MNTF W from Brigadier General Agostino Biancafarina, the Commander of Armored “Pinerolo” Brigade.

The ceremony was held at the presence of KFOR Deputy Commander Major General Philippe Stoltz and Operational InterForce (C.O.I.) Commander, Lieutenant General Giuseppe Valotto, former KFOR Commander.

Recognizing the outstanding service of Brigadier General Agostino Biancafarina within KFOR, DCOM Major General Philippe Stolz presented to him a NATO Non-Article 5 medal.
The representatives of local political and religious authorities from all over the MNTF-W area of responsibility were among distinguished guests of this ceremony.

KFOR Multinational Task Force West consists of approximately 2.900 soldiers from Hungary, Italy, Romania, Slovenia and Spain and operates in the municipalities of Decani/Decan, Djakovica/Gjakove, Istok/Istog, Klina/Kline, and Pec/Peje.
