Visit of “28 NENTORI” school to Villagio Italia Camp

Belo Polje/Bellopolje, 27 june 2008, “28 NEMTORY” primary school of Raushiq/Rasic, Peje/Pec municipality, visit “Villaggio Italia” camp, where Multinational Task Force West is based.

30 students and a few teachers, accompanied by Mr. Ismet Zekaj, school director, arrived on the base with an Italian army bus, escorted by MNTF - W CIMIC soldiers.

When they arrived, Lieutenant Colonel Stefano MASTRANGELO, CIMIC Chief, welcomed them. Soon after, MNTF – W Commander, Brigadier General Agostino Biancafarina, gave them a warm welcome as well.

This visit allowed boys and girls to see some tactical and logistic vehicles deployed by the NATO forces in Kosovo, which have been lined up on the parade square. Visitors have been able to see and to appreciate the technology and the complexity of the vehicles.

Subsequently, both military and school personnel have honored the fallen soldiers who died in the act of rebuilding the peace and stability in Kosovo. The ceremony was simple but intense. The children deposited some flowers to the monument, and in order to honor the fallen soldiers there was a moment of silence.
The visit continued at the Slovenian Army Role 1 plus, where the organization and the operational capabilities of a field hospital were shown.

The meeting with the Radio West operators was the peak of the activity. The pupils were welcomed by the operators near their studio. Afterwards, the children were permitted to attend during the program broadcasting.

In the front of the radio station, the personnel of the mess had prepared a small buffet for all the guest of Villaggio Italia.

At the end, Lieutenant Colonel Stefano MASTRANGELO thanked the manager of the school and presented a gift to all the participants.
