On Sunday June 8th of 2008, Multinational Task-Force North made a tactical deployment in the area of Gate 1 near the Administrative Border Line of Kosovo, in the municipality of Leposavic.
This operation, handled in coordination with UNMIK Police, involved two units of the French gendarmerie and of from the Nothing Hill battalion, in CRC (crowd and riot control) configuration. This deployment occurred in the frame of KFOR operations, in order to allow MNTF-N to maintain a high level of readiness and quick reaction ability in all parts of its Area of Responsibility (AoR).
After the arrival by helicopter of the “gendarmerie” component of the operation, the three present units proceeded to a deployment in CRC configuration by three successive “curtains” on the Gate 1 road. This operation, which included also armoured vehicles, allowed to reinforce cooperation between UNMIK Police and KFOR, in order to be able to maintain permanently a safe and secure environment.
