Pec/Peje, Kosovo - On May 15th 350 Slovenian soldiers, members of the KFOR Family, celebrated the 17th Slovenian Armed Forces (SAF) day.
The celebration took place in the Camp Villagio Italia, MNTF-W and was attended by the Deputy Chief of General Staff of the SAF Major General Alojz Šteiner. During that day soldiers organized different sports competitions and a military ceremony followed by evening party with one of the Slovenian music groups.
In past three months, since the Slovenian Task Force Grof took over his area of responsibility (in the municipalities of Klina/Kline and Pec/Peje) they conducted numerous check points, patrols and escorts, CRC, shooting and helicopter trainings.
Together with the Slovenian CIMIC and the engineer group they have established good relations with the local population in both municipalities. Along with the safe and secure environment, Slovenian soldiers are here to help the local population to improve life conditions. Therefore they have provided humanitarian aid to the poor families, donated toys to the kinder gardens, books to the libraries, grass and corn seeds to the farmers...
Concerning the importance of the education, they’ve built a computer classroom in the primary school Grebnik/Gremnik, donated computers to the primary school in Klina/Kline, provided water supply to the primary school in Jagoda/Jagode and reconstructed the road in Berkovo/Berkove.
