Book donation for medical college

American books find their way into the hearts and minds of the Kosovo people after being donated by Task Force Med Falcon.

One Captain from TF Med took up where his counterpart left off at by helping the educational system of Kosovo with the donation of books.

"I had the pleasure of donating books to the medical college," said Capt. Louis Johnson an intensive care unit nurse with TF Med. "It was great, I really enjoyed it and it was rewarding. Just the look on the people’s faces was enough for me because I could tell that they really needed it and they were very appreciative."

After arriving in Kosovo Johnson learned how bad the resources were, he then took up where his KFOR 8 counterpart left off by helping the only medical college in Kosovo. He collected about 60 medical books to give to the school, most of the books dealing with nursing subjects which come in handy for a school that just added the nursing program.

Due to the success of the first donation Johnson has already contacted his coworkers back home to continue with the good work. He has also involved the rest of TF Med to get more subjects than just nursing because the college does offer six types of medical degrees.

Even though the books are in English they are still a big help to the school that encourages all of its students to know English. Johnson said they do this so that the students may further their learning with a medical specialty which they can not receive in Kosovo. He also said the school wishes to know how the American medical field is.

"All kinds of good things come from all the donations and the help that we are getting especially the friendships between this college and KFOR," said the Vice Dean of the college Ferit Kocani in a translated interview.
