Which bodies play a central role
As far as high-level meetings are concerned, the Secretary General of NATO is occasionally invited to speak before the OSCE Permanent Council. NATO is also invited to speak at annual meetings of the OSCE Ministerial Council. The North Atlantic Council also invites the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office to some of its meetings.
At the Headquarters level, consultations are ongoing between officials from both organisations on issues of common interest such as crisis management, border security, disarmament, scientific matters and terrorism.
Within the framework of joint operations being conducted in the Balkans region, representatives from both organisations in the field meet regularly to share information and discuss various aspects of their co-operation.
