Media invited to news conference Wednesday with NATO Senior Civilian Representative

KABUL, Afghanistan – News media representatives are invited to an NATO news conference at Headquarters ISAF on Wednesday, April 9, at 11 a.m.

NATO’s Senior Civilian Representative, Ambassador Maurits R. Jochems, will provide a briefing on the outcome of the Bucharest Summit.

Attendees are kindly requested to respond to this advisory to acknowledge their participation by listing their name and agency in an e-mail to the address listed below by 8 a.m. April 9.

Those not holding an ISAF registration card, please arrive at the HQ ISAF main gate as early as 9:45 a.m., and others, no later than 10:30 a.m., for a security check prior to being escorted to the conference location. Late arrivals will not be admitted. Additionally, no vehicles will be permitted onto the camp.

Those arriving with cell phones and laptop computers will be asked to check them in with security for the duration of the visit to HQ ISAF.

For security reasons, all personnel entering the ISAF compound will be scanned. This procedure is safe for men and women. Personal belongings are subject to x-ray inspection and/or be searched by trained dogs. The scanner is safe for people and items such as medication and film. Those with concerns about this procedure can notify the escort public affairs officer.

All news media representatives must hold a valid ISAF press pass and a tazkera or alternatively, a national passport. Registration is held each Monday, Thursday and Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. Registration requirements are located on the top right side of the ISAF Web site.
