Exercise Capable Warrior (CW 04)

NATO Exercises in Denmark: Capable Warrior 04

Exercise CAPABLE WARRIOR 2004, a NATO Command Post, Computer Assisted Exercise, will take place from18 – 29 October 2004 in Karup and Finderup in Denmark. Joint Forces Command Headquarters Brunssum, the Netherlands and Component Command-Land Headquarters Heidelberg, Germany will conduct the exercise. Approximately 500 personnel from the following 16 NATO member nations will participate: Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States of America.

Exercise CAPABLE WARRIOR is an important tool to train participants in high intensity war- fighting, operational planning, and command and control at the operational and tactical level. This year, the exercise will use a computer simulation model to train military personnel in key military tasks. Apart from the set up of a command post in the field, there will be no troop movements during the conduct of this exercise.

Headquarters Multi National Corps North East will be the primary training audience. The new Headquarters French Corps and the Combined Air Operations Centre 1 (CAOC 1) will be the secondary training audience.

This exercise does not represent any existing or potential real-world events or situations and has been in the planning stages for more than 18 months.
