Exercise Ample Train 2004 (AT 04) NATO Exercises Air Force Logistics Personnel
Exercise AMPLE TRAIN (AT 04), a Multinational, aircraft, cross-servicing exercise will be conducted from 06 June –11 June 2004 in NATO’s Northern Region at Main Air Station Oerland, Norway. AT 04 will involve approximately 300 personnel from ten NATO nations: 15 combat aircraft and ground crew personnel from France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Norway, and Turkey, plus ground crew personnel only from Belgium, Denmark, Hungary, and United Kingdom. This is the only exercise in Allied Command Operations dedicated to logistical support, and that provides intensive fighter aircraft ground crew training free from the competing priorities and time pressures of an air exercise. It is designed to improve the ability of NATO nations’ air forces to work on and with each other’s aircraft by training ground crew personnel in such duties as refuelling, carrying out pre and post flight safety checks, and ensuring weapon-safety if the aircraft is armed. Ground-servicing crews from one nation will work with aircrew and aircraft from another nation. This is a strong demonstration of NATO’s interoperability, and allows the improvement of current procedures and trials of interoperability and standardization for new aircraft equipment whilst promoting mutual understanding, confidence and cooperation. Exercise AT 04 is under the direction and coordination of the Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) and is conducted by the Commander, Allied Air Forces North (COMAIRNORTH), Ramstein, Germany.
