Exercise Cooperative Support 2003
NATO and Partner Nations participate in Exercise Cooperative Support 2003 in Austria

The Commander-in-Chief South Atlantic (CINCSOUTHLANT), Vice Admiral Américo da Silva Santos, Portuguese Navy, announced that NATO and NATO Partner nations will join together to participate in exercise cooperative support 03 (COSUP OS). The exercise will be conducted from 25 November to 02 December 2003 in Salzburg, Austria.

The aim of the exercise is to promote closer military co-operation and interoperability between NATO and Partner member nations.

COSUP 03 is an annual, seminar style, joint logistics exercise based on a fictitious crisis response operation, involving a NATO-led Combined Joint Task Force (CJTF). The exercise will focus on NATO’s logistics doctrine, policy and procedures, leading from concept to practical application. In keeping with the CJTF concept of joint forces, participants will have the opportunity to exchange NATO logistics information on navy, army, air force and amphibious operations.

Over 130 participants will be drawn from the following nations:

  • Thirteen NATO nations: Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Turkey, the United Kingdom and the United States of America;
  • Seven Invitee countries: Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia;
  • Eleven Partner nations: Austria, Azerbaijan, Croatia, Finland, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia(1) , Georgia, Ireland, Khazakstan, Republic of Moldova, Sweden and Switzerland.

Two countries belonging to the NATO Mediterranean Dialogue, Algeria and Jordan will also attend as observers.
