
NATO's Highest Military Authority holds meetings - 9/10 November 1999
NATO's Military Committee, chaired by Admiral Guido Venturoni, will hold
the following meetings next week at NATO Headquarters:
- The 136th meeting of the Military Committee in Chiefs of Staff
Session on Tuesday 9 November at 0900 hours in Room 16.
- The 5th meeting of the Military Committee in Chiefs of Staff Session
with Ukraine on Tuesday 9 November at 1530 hours in Room 16.
- The 5th meeting of the Euro-Atlantic Partnership Military Committee
in Chiefs of Staff Session on Wednesday 10 November at 1000 hours
in Room 16.
CEREMONY TO MARK NATO's 50th ANNIVERSARY
NATO's Secretary General and the Chairman of the Military Committee will
unveil a Commemorative Stone during a Ceremony at NATO Headquarters on
Tuesday 9 November 1999 at 1200 hours. Invited guests include NATO's Permanent
Representatives, Chiefs of Defence and Military Representatives. The Ceremony,
sponsored by NATO's Highest Military Authority, will pay tribute to all
military and civilian personnel who serve, or have served, the NATO Alliance.
The inscription on the Commemorative Stone, in English and French, reads:
NATO 1949 - 1999 : 'IN COMMEMORATION OF ALL THOSE WHO SERVED IN THE
CAUSE OF PEACE AND FREEDOM'
The Royal Band of the Belgian Navy will play at the Ceremony which will
last approximately twenty minutes. Accredited press and media are invited
to attend and should be in their places no later than 1145 hours. (see
plan diagram). Please note that this is a photo opportunity only; no interviews
are planned.
PRESS CONFERENCE
The Chairman of the Military Committee, Admiral Guido Venturoni, wishes
to debrief the media after next week's meetings on Wednesday 10 November
at 1600 hours in the Joseph Luns Press theatre. Accredited journalists
are invited to attend.
