Further Progress on Military Cooperation between NATO and
Russia
Senior military officials of NATO and the Russian Federation Defence
Ministry, meeting in Moscow on 18 June, achieved significant progress
on parameters for establishing a NATO military liaison mission in
Moscow by the end of the year. These parameters will now be
submitted to the respective NATO and Russian Federation authorities
for their consideration and subsequent endorsement by the Permanent
Joint Council. This represents another step forward in implementing
the provisions of the NATO-Russia Founding Act and will further
advance its aims of enhancing dialogue and building trust and
confidence through increased military cooperation.
