Information for the media
on
the workshop on reserve forces
organized by the National Reserve Forces Committee
(NRFC) on 9 Feb 96
The NRFC is an organism which brings together the general officers
in charge of reserve forces of most of the NATO countries.
Each year, the NRFC organises two meetings at the same time
as those of the CIOR (Interallied
Confederation of Reserve Officers): one meeting is held in February
at NATO HQ, and a second meeting is hosted by an Alliance country
during summer time. These meetings enable an enriching exchange
of views concerning the reserve forces within the Alliance countries.
Nevertheless, they have an informal character, because the NRFC
is not officially recognised by NATO. Since 1994 France has
assumed the Presidency of this Organisation for a two-year period.
FEBRUARY 9, 1996 ONE DAY WORKSHOP ON RESERVE FORCES, OPENED
TO PfP PARTNER COUNTRIES.
This year, the NRFC has decided to invite all PfP (Partnership
for Peace) countries for the last day of its Winter session
on February 9, 1996.
This day of common workshops includes a presentation of the
NRFC, a presentation of several reserve systems used by NATO
countries and a series of conferences concerning reserves and
reservists. It is likely that the meeting will lead to profitable
and fruitful exchanges with these new partners in the future.
