| Eng. / Fr. | Exercise "Idassa 2007" Background
A consequence management field exercise organised by the Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Centre (EADRCC) in co-operation with Croatia, the host nation, was conducted in May 2007. The Exercise Idassa 2007 was a Croatian contribution to the Partnership Work Programme (PWP) for 2007. The exercise was primarily conducted as an EADRCC and Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Unit (EADRU) activity involving the Civil Protection Committee and NATO Military Authorities (NMAs) in the planning. The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UN-OCHA) was also involved in the preparation and the conduct of the exercise.
The scenario for the field exercise focused on response to an earthquake and chemical incidents in an industrial seaport as well as a terrorist threat using biological agents on board of a passenger plane. The exercise took place from 19 to 24 May 2007 in Zadar County, Croatia. It included a training programme and a tabletop exercise which was held on 20 May 2007, followed by three days of field activities. On 24 May 2007, a demonstration was given by participating teams.
