President
of Romania at NATO HQ
|

The President of Romania, H.E. Ion Iliescu and
the Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Mircea Dan
Geoana, met with Lord Robertson on 9 July. They
discussed the situation in the Balkans and Romania's
involvement in the region. They also raised the
question of NATO enlargement and Romania's participation
in the Partnership for Peace (PfP) programme. Romania
was the first country to join the PfP programme
in 1994.

NATO
parliamentarians discuss current issues
|
|
|
An overview of all current issues pertaining to
NATO and its partners are being covered during a
five-day meeting of the New Parliamentarian Initiative,
9-13 July. This is the second meeting organised
by the NATO Parliamentary Assembly for this group,
originally known as the Young Parliamentarian Initiative.

NATO visit to the Balkans

NATO Secretary General, Lord Robertson, and the
Alliance's 19 Permanent Representatives went on
a visit to Albania and Bosnia and Herzegovina, 12-13
July, where they were fully briefed on developments
in these countries.

Seminar
on international deployment of disaster relief units
|
|
|
Disaster relief professionals from NATO and Partner
countries and international organisations gathered
in Baku, Azerbaijan on 12-13 July 2001 for a seminar
held in the framework of the Euro-Atlantic Partnership
Council (EAPC) and Partnership for Peace.
