Ambassador Fernando Andresen-Guimarães

Ambassador Fernando Andresen-Guimarães, Permanent Representative of Portugal to NATO and WEO, was Ambassador to Washington before assuming his present post. During his thirty-two year diplomatic career, he was President of the Interministerial Commission on Macau, heading the Portuguese-Chinese Joint Liaison Group as well as Director-General of Development Aid (Ministry of Foreign Affairs). He also served as Ambassador in Algiers and in Baghdad, as Consul-General in Luanda, as Counsellor at the Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York and as Auditor at the NATO Defence College in Rome. Ambassador Andresen-Guimarães has also held posts in London and in Malawi.
