CWO K.D. O'Rourke

Pte Michael O’Rourke, the son of a CF member was born in Lahr West Germany in 1984 while his father was posted there. He spent most of his childhood and teen years in Petawawa Ontario. He graduated high-school in 2002, and attended Algonquin College in Ottawa completing one year before joining the Military in 2004 as an infantryman.

After recruit training in St Jean Quebec and Trades training in Meaford Ontario, Pte O’Rourke was posted to the First Battalion, The Royal Canadian Regiment, in Petawawa Ontario. He immediately began training for Roto 2, Op Archer (Afghanistan). After training events in Petawawa Ontario and Wainwright Alberta, Pte O’Rourke deployed with 1 RCR, Charles Coy. For his actions during Op Medusa, Pte O’Rourke was awarded the Medal of Military Valour.

Pte O’Rourke and his fiancé, Crystal Simmons will be married in August 08. Pte O’Rourke is an avid sportsman who enjoys Hockey and golf. He is also a musician who plays drums and guitar. Pte O’Rourke’s parents and sister live in Petawawa, Ontario.
